Christian Education & Events for Kids
Welcome, kids! God loves you.
Children of all ages gather at Hope from 9:15 – 10:15 each Sunday morning. Our Sunday School classes are grouped by school grade levels. Bring your whole family to Hope where kids study the Bible, join in fun activities, form friendships, and learn above all that God’s love and grace are meant for them.
Preschool
Young children, ages 3 through 5, hear Bible stories, do crafts and play together. Parents are welcome to leave their kids in the classroom and join the Adult Scripture Study that happens at the same time just steps away from the Preschool classroom.
Younger Elementary – Grades K through 2nd or 3rd
Young elementary school kids learn about God each Sunday through playful activities, videos, stories and crafts. They discover the church year, the deep meaning behind holy days and why we worship the way we do. This class helps children learn the fundamentals of faith.
Older Elementary – Grades 3rd through 5th or 6th
In the later elementary grades, kids are getting ready to start confirmation. This means learning more about the Bible, building deeper understanding of our beliefs, and engaging with the church through worship. Plus, there’s lots of fun learning, activities and crafts.
Confirmation (Generally for 6th and 7th Grade)
Talk with Pastor Joel and our Director of Christian Education to enroll your son or daughter in Confirmation. This important phase of learning centers on the Catechism, teaching your student about important tenets of Lutheran belief, preparing him or her to confess our church’s teachings confidently and with understanding, and most importantly to become a communicant and faithful member of the congregation.
Youth – Grades 7 through 12
Middle and high school students spend Sundays digging into insightful lessons that grow their faith and knowledge in meaningful and engaging ways. Hope also has an active Youth Group where members participate in church and community service projects, fellowship opportunities, worship activities, and the LCMS Youth Gathering every three years.
Vacation Bible School
Each June, we welcome kids age 4 through rising 6th graders to our Vacation Bible School! This exciting, fun-filled week is free and open to the community. From 9:00 a.m. to noon Monday-Friday, kids enjoy crafts, outdoor activities, stories, music, and games that inspire knowledge and love of our Lord and Savior. On the last day of VBS, parents are invited to a closing ceremony where the kids share the songs they have learned, followed by a fellowship picnic for all with VBS volunteers.
VBS is free, but you must register to secure a spot for your children.
Mark Your Calendars for VBS 2025 from June 23-27. Come Back in Early May for VBS Registration.
